Frances Hunter
PRINCETON — Frances Agatha Hunter, 82, of Princeton passed away Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012, at Colonial Rehab and Nursing Center in Princeton.
She was born on Oct. 27, 1929, in Olney, Ill., to John Joseph and Agatha (McCloskey) Turk. Fran grew up in a lively household with her mother and aunt Lucille Diver, and cousins John and Jerry Diver. She attended Bridgeport Schools and graduated from the Academy of the Sacred Heart in St. Charles in 1947. She attended Mary Crest College in Iowa and Eastern Illinois University, where she was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. It was at Eastern that Fran met her husband Rex Hunter. They married on Dec. 27, 1952, at the Immaculate Conception Church in Bridgeport.
Fran enjoyed all things Irish, the St. Louis Cardinals and any casino that had a slot machine. She drove a school bus for PES for 15 years. Fran volunteered with many organizations in Princeton. She was an active member of St. Louis Catholic Church for more than 50 years and was a long-standing member of their CCW. She also loved the "lunch bunch" and her Bridge Club.
Fran is survived by her husband of 59 years, Rex Hunter of Princeton; four children, Mary Moore of Manlius, Daniel Hunter of Princeton, Jim (Tracey) Hunter of Malden and Margaret (Mark Kircher) Hunter of Mattoon; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Norma Brannen of Charleston.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Patricia Ann in infancy; and one grandson, Rex Ryan Hunter.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Louis Catholic Church, Princeton, with Father Jeffery Stirniman officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Norberg Memorial Home in Princeton.
