SPRING VALLEY — A house fire in Spring Valley Friday night resulted in no injuries. Spring Valley Fire Chief Todd Bogatitus said the resident of 226 W. Dakota St. called in the alarm about 11:30 p.m. Friday, reporting a burning smell and white smoke.

Bogatitus said when he arrived on the scene, there was heavy smoke coming from the eaves from a fire in the walls that had moved into the attic.

Spring Valley responded with two engines, two support vehicles and 15 firefighters, and the Ladd Fire Department responded with one engine and four firefighters. Also responding were the Spring Valley Police Department, 10/33 Ambulance Service and the Illinois Department of Transportation to salt the icy roads. The fire department remained on the scene for about 90 minutes.

Bogatitus said water and smoke damage was restricted to a small portion of the house. The fire is believed to be electrical in nature.
