LADD — The Ladd Village Board took action on the following business at its meeting Jan. 10:

• Received a cost estimate of $60,000-plus to replace about 450 feet of 2-inch water main with 6-inch main including hydrants, valves and street repair on Cedar Street east of Peru Avenue. The board agreed to include the work in the bidding of the Water Main Rehabilitation Project C and to apply for the supplemental permit. Engineer Larry Good was directed to advertise for project bids when the documents are ready.

• Heard Good will be meeting soon with John Rupe to discuss his final pay request for the water main rehabilitation project.

• Heard the weather has not been favorable for work to continue on the sewer outfall replacement project and the cleveland street sewer separation project.

• Gave Police Chief Bill Gaefcke permission to enroll in the LESO program which would allow the village the opportunity to obtain surplus federal government equipment.

• Heard the Peoria Diocese plans to begin the demolition of St. Benedict’s Church by Jan. 18.

• Amended the property maintenance ordinance by establishing minimum standards for basic residential facilities.

• Proclaimed Jan. 29 – Feb. 3 as Catholic Schools Week.

• Entered closed session to discuss collective bargaining and personnel.

• Authorized the village clerk to advertise for a part-time position in the clerk’s office.

• Heard an application for an energy efficiency grant is ready for submission.

• Heard the Ladd Community Improvement Association provided Christmas gifts to 12 village utility customers. Each received a $25 credit toward their December utility bills. This is the fifth year the CIA has provided the gifts to Ladd residents.

• Hired Cindy Allen to clean the Ladd Community Center at $10 per hour.
