Walnut Village Board
WALNUT — The Walnut Village Board took action on the following items at its meeting Jan. 3:
• Continued reviewing different village ordinances pertaining to regulating the control of animals. After reviewing the ordinances, the board felt each of them had some good coverage points to add to the current village ordinance. The clerk was directed to send the ordinances to the village attorney for assistance.
• Received the end of the year police report and the December log report from Police Chief Tom Ptasnik. The December log contained four traffic stops, one citation, two case reports and 17 calls of service.
• Approved the purchase of a prisoner transport seat for the new squad car in the amount of $391.95. Ptasnik informed the board that while on a call to pick up a dog at large, the back seat of the new squad car had gotten torn from the dog’s nails. Ptasnik also informed that the back seat was tight if he were to put an arrestee in the back seat. The back seats are standard size for a passenger car, but with the cage, it is too small to put a larger framed person in the back. Ptasnik presented some options for police back seats that are standard for police vehicles.
• Approved the corrected resolution for maintenance of streets. The previously-passed ordinance was void due to incorrect amounts.
• Heard the changes Walnut Village President Robert Brasen made to the committees. The changes are as follows: Finance Chairman is Lori Wilkinson, Lee Sarver and Duane Christensen; Streets and Alley Chairman is Wilkinson, Terry Glaudel and Deb Quinn; Water and Sewer Chairman Sarver, Wilkinson and Dennis Grobe; Garbage Chairman is Quinn, Christensen and Wilkinson; Law and Order Chairman is Glaudel, Grobe and Sarver; Cemetery Chairman is Christensen, Grobe and Quinn; and Local Improvements Chairman is Grobe, Christensen and Glaudel.
