COLUMBIA, Tenn. — Mr. Howard L. Hinderliter, 77, a resident of Columbia, Tenn., died Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2012, at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia.
The Galva, Ill., native was the son of the late Lester S. Hinderliter and Goldia Jacques Hinderliter. He was reared and educated in Galva and Alexis and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Hinderliter was employed by B.F. Goodrich Chemical Plant in Henry. After retirement he worked at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lacon. He enjoyed playing golf and riding motorcycles. He was a member of the Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Reva Elizabeth Brown Hinderliter of Columbia, Tenn.; one son, Michael (Betty) Hinderliter of Virginia; four daughters, Pamela (John) Sanders and Marylynn (Pat) Ackland, both of Bremerton, Wash., Sandra Jorgeson of Malden and Karla Galpin of Princeville; one granddaughter, Heather Hinderliter of Rockford; one stepson, Terrence (Meredith) Bybee of Columbia, Tenn.; two sisters, Mary Smith of Florida and Linda (John) Ruiz of Spring Valley; 11 grandchildren; and two stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by foster parents, Walter and Edna Sandstrom, and four brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Calvin Lunn officiating. Military honors will be provided at the church by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. Inurnment will follow at a later date in Illinois.
The family will visit with friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at the church.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Campbell, Vernon Wunder, Marcen Jeffiers and elders of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
