PRINCETON — The Princeton High School Board conducted the following business at its Jan. 25 meeting:

• Agreed it will now start board meetings with the Pledge of Allegiance to the United States flag. Board member Al Taylor brought up the discussion, saying the Princeton City Council begins its meetings with the Pledge, and he thought it was a good thing to do. Not only is it good for the board member as an individual to say the Pledge, but it was also a good example to others in attendance, Taylor said.

• Agreed to continue meeting at 6 p.m. for its regular meetings on the fourth Wednesday of each month. The board had voted last summer to go from a 5:30 p.m. meeting time to 6 p.m. in order to make it more convenient for the public to attend meetings. (Superintendent Kirk Haring said attendance has been about the same at board meetings, even after the time change.)

• Recognized January Students of the Month honorees as follows: Sophomores Lucas Bauer and Michelle Kelley, juniors Beau Minnick and Kathryn Krieger, and seniors Matt Murphy and Jacob Fisher.

• Set the 2012 high school graduation date for 10 a.m. May 26 on Bryant Field.

• Appointed spring coaches as follows: Tim Taylor, baseball head coach; Michael Fauth, baseball assistant; Bruce Placek and Tim Ciesielski as baseball volunteers; Ed Young, girls soccer head coach; David Gray, girls soccer assistant; Kurt Garvin, girls soccer volunteer; Bob James, softball head coach; Keith Kamphuis and Joe Bates, softball volunteers; Connie Lind, boys tennis head coach; Dan Foes, boys track head coach; Marty Makransky, boys track assistant; Curtis Odell and Randy Allen, boys track volunteers; Pat Hodge, girls track head coach; Andy Puck, girls track assistant; and Lew Flinn and David Safranski, girls track volunteers.
