Ohio Grade School
OHIO — The Ohio Grade School Board took action on the following items at its meeting Jan. 17:
• Heard the current enrollment for the grade school is 79.
• Approved to supply transportation and ticket fee for the seventh-/eighth-grade Great America trip for students passing the random drug screens.
• Heard the district must provide breakfast next year due to its current poverty rate of 44.59 percent.
• Heard the white activity bus has been delivered.
• Discussed a band rental fee for next year.
• Heard Superintendent Sharon Sweger say she was looking into a parent training program that would be paid for through pre-school funding.
• Heard Principal Mark Downey say the girls basketball team has been showing a lot of improvement.
• Heard the honor roll breakfast sponsored by the PTO was held Jan. 6.
• Heard fifth grade D.A.R.E. graduation was held Jan. 10 with Sheriff John Thompson and Deputy Dan Smith.
• Heard student teacher Diane Brandau has started working in the special education and behavior disorder classrooms.
The next regularly scheduled meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Feb. 21 in the school library.
