Casey’s opens in Spring Valley

SPRING VALLEY — Casey’s General Store is expected to open in Spring Valley Thursday.

“This will be a new model store, considerably larger than others in the area,” said Diane Cooper, district manager.

The store is located at 601 W. Dakota St. on the lot where the Hardee’s restaurant used to be located before being closed in 2008. The old restaurant was demolished at this location the end of August 2011 with the new Casey’s building being constructed during the last few months.

“We felt there was a need for a Casey’s at this location, and we decided to come to town,” said Cooper.

Kimberly Teegarden, who has nearly 30 years of experience in the retail business, is the manager of the store that will be open 24 hours a day. Its phone number is 815-664-4368.

Grand opening activities are planned on Friday and Saturday with prize drawings plus reduced prices on some food items and drinks.

Activities like face painting and balloons will be held for children during the grand opening, added Cooper.
