Ellen Gower

PRINCETON — Ellen J. Gower, 92, of Princeton passed away Monday, Jan. 30, 2012, at Perry Memorial Hospital in Princeton.

Born Jan. 29, 1920, in Princeton to Glen C. and Edna (Kampf) Gilbert, she married Erwin Gower July 30, 1939, in Davenport, Iowa. He died March 26, 2011.

She graduated from Princeton High School in 1938. She worked at Anderson Mosshart, Vasser Undergarments and was a lifelong homemaker.

She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church and was previously the coordinator of the Bureau County Food Pantry for 10 years.

Surviving are one daughter, Sharon (Dale) Borg of Princeton; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Tipton Gilbert of Princeton; and one sister, Dona Pace of Princeton.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Cynthia Dieci; one grandson, Scott Borg; and two sisters, Lucille Wathen and Mona Gustafson.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the First United Methodist Church, Princeton, with the Rev. Thomas Ostrander officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Princeton.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

The Norberg Memorial Home in Princeton is in charge of arrangements.
