Princeton Rotary Club will offer scholarship
PRINCETON — The Princeton Rotary Club has released information about the 2012 Swan-Eickmeier Scholarship Program.
Four $1,000 non-renewable scholarships will be awarded to Princeton High School graduating seniors pursuing a two- or four-year college degree. The scholarship funds must be applied directly to tuition, room and board, fees or textbooks/media. Payment will be made directly to students in two installments during the year after graduation.
The criteria for students applying for the scholarship will include the intent to complete a college degree, enrollment as a full-time student at an accredited college or university, and enrollment as a student at PHS for at least one academic year prior to graduation. Selection will be based on candidate’s academic achievement, extracurricular and community activities, letters of recommendation and a 500-word essay about how Rotary service and ideals will play a role in their life.
Founded in 1905, Rotary International is the world’s first service club organization. Today, Rotary flourishes worldwide with 1.2 million members in 34,000 clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas. Its members are volunteers who work locally, regionally and internationally to combat hunger, improve health and sanitation, provide education and job training, promote peace, and eradicate polio under the motto “Service Above Self.”
PHS seniors may pick up a Swan-Eickmeier Scholarship application from counselors in the high school guidance office. Application must be received by April 13. Notification of scholarship award winners will occur in May.
