PRINCETON — Princeton High School sophomore Laura Behrends was chosen as the Hugh O’Brian Youth Ambassador for 2012. She will attend the HOBY Leadership Seminar at Illinois Wesleyan University June 8-10.

Behrends, the daughter of Ronald and Eileen Behrends of Tiskilwa, was chosen for outstanding leadership potential demonstrated in school and community activities.

She is involved in many activities including band, tennis, pompons, First Class and student council. Outside of school, she has participated in dance for 11 years. In addition to her many activities, she is a high honor roll student.

Her future plans include attending a four-year university with a goal of opening her own dance studio or becoming a math teacher.

For five decades, Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership (HOBY) has worked to foster young people to make a difference and become positive role models for change and improvement. HOBY is recognized world-wide.
