Seniors leave their mark at SBA

The Lady Bruins had a Senior Night to remember Tuesday at the Academy.

All seven St. Bede seniors honored scored in Tuesday’s 68-36 win over former NCIC rival Rock Falls, including Carly Ficek (16), Carolann Barnes (7), Stevie Fisher (3), Kayla MacDavitt (11), Taylor Miller (12), Hannah Sons (1) and Lydia Stariha (7).

The Lady Bruins lifted of to victory over the Rockets in the third quarter Tuesday outscoring Rock Falls 22-6 to gain a 54-28 lead. Ficek led the St. Bede third-quarter charge with seven points and Taylor Miller had five.

Kewanee 64, Bureau Valley 17: The Storm fell behind 23-0 in the first quarter in Three Rivers play Wednesday in Manlius. Lacey Devenney led BV with 6 points.

Hall 75, DePue 38: Becca Herrmann poured in a season-high 33 points as the Lady Red Devils rolled Wednesday at Red Devil Gymnasium. Val Hoffert and Brenna Faletti each scored 11 points and Beka Dagraedt had 10 for Hall, which held out starters Jaclyn Kain, Kelle Nett and Liz Mosbach.
Grisel Godinez led DePue with 23 points.

Boys’ basketball

St. Bede 77, Lowpoint-Washburn 40: The Wildcats played the Bruins to a five-point game in the first quarter. Then the Bruins really took off, outscoring their hosts 21-5 to assume a 39-18 halftime lead.
Luie Arriaga paced the Bruins (19-5) with 13 points with Brad Groleau and Joe Pyszka adding 11 each and Damin Smith nine.

Bureau Valley 65, Morrison 61: The Storm rode the 1-2 punch of freshman guard Parker Neuhalfen (20 points) and senior center Bryce Walters (19) to victory on the road in the Three Rivers Conference play Tuesday. Neuhalfen had three 3-pointers.

The Storm improved to 6-3 in the Three Rivers, 10-9 overall. Morrison stands 7-17, 3-7.

Henry 84, DePue 59: The Mallards’ Jake Schlosser scored 24 of his game-high 27 points in the second half to power host Henry in Tri-County Conference play Tuesday.

Isaac Reyes led the Little Giants with 15 points and Jesse Lopez added 14.
