NEPONSET — The Neponset Village Board took action on the following items at its meeting Jan. 30:

• Heard Village President Carl Rohrig thank Carol Gerrond for the article she wrote about the new village hall.

• Approved replacing former village clerk Chelsea Blake with current village clerk Karen Ingles as overseer of all the bank accounts.

• Tabled action on building permit for Kevin Manning until next meeting.

• Heard Ameren wants a pole number when reporting street lights out around town.

• Heard Tom Weeks has a few more ordinances to update, and that he has information on a zoning ordinance if necessary.

• Heard Mandy Mueller is finalizing sign inventory and still trying to get answers from Kewanee Chamber about Christmas lights.

• Discussed the condition of the water tower. J.T. Mackey from Adam Kinzinger’s office was told the village is in need of a grant to paint and refurbish the water tank.

• Discussed ways the village can use its Motor Fuel Tax funds.

• Heard there was one illegal burn ticket issued in December.

• Heard Rohrig is requesting a meeting with Sen. Darin LaHood to discuss help for the village.

• Discussed if there is a dollar limit before bids for mowing must be taken.

• Heard D.J. Stickley Construction will start construction on water project in about 30 days.

• Heard Vicki Bennett and Karen Ingles will look into alternative energy through Ameren to see if the village can save on power bills.

• Approved the purchase of new Softline data program UBMAX with QuickBooks option.

• Approved suggestion that each board member write a budget for their department, due in May 2012.

• Approved the purchase of a radar unit for the police car for $700.
