Valley sign-ups

SPRING VALLEY — Registration for all Spring Valley youth baseball and softball will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday and Feb. 18 at Richwoods and from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Feb. 15 at JFK School.

Baseball fundraiser

LADD — Ladd Youth Baseball will hold a chicken dinner fundraiser and sports memorabilia silent auction from 4 to 8 p.m. Feb. 20 at Rip’s Tavern in Ladd. Autographed baseballs are available from Chicago Cubs’ David DeJesus and Brett Jackson and St. Louis Cardinal prospect Adam Ottavio from the Quad City River Bandits. An autographed Alexi Ramirez jersey and Adam Dunn picture are available from the Chicago White Sox. Tickets to the Cubs, White Sox, Peoria Chiefs and Kane County Cougars will be raffled.

Softball clinic

OGLESBY — The Illinois Valley Community College softball team will host the 13th annual IVCC Eagles softball clinic Feb. 18- Feb. 19 in the IVCC gym. Coaches and current players will offer softball instruction in the areas of hitting, bunting, fielding, throwing, base running and communication. There will be two sessions each day.

On Saturday, participants in grades 2 to 4 will meet from 8 to 10:30 am.  Participants in grades 5 to 8 will meet from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.  On Sunday, participants in grades 2 to 4 will meet from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  Participants in grades 5 to 8 will meet from 1:30 to 4 p.m.

Cost of the clinic is $30 per player and includes five hours of instruction and a clinic T-shirt.  If a player is only able to attend one day the cost is $20. All players should bring a glove and tennis shoes. Spikes or cleats are not allowed.
