Lady Devils trip Lady Bruins for regional crown

PRINCETON - The Hall Lady Red Devils upset the top-seeded St. Bede Lady Bruins 52-48  for the Princeton 2A regional championship Thursday at Prouty Gym.

Senior center Kelle Nett powered the Lady Devils with 15 points and 23 rebounds. Jaclyn Kain had 14 points, Liz Mosbach 13 points and Becca Herrmann 8.

For St. Bede, which held a 26-18 halftime lead, Carly Ficek had 14 points.

The Hall hoopsters (19-11) will advance to the Rock Falls Sectional. There, they will face Stillman Valley, a 50-36 winner over host Oregon Thursday.

Hall's last regional championship also came over St. Bede, another upset win in 2007 at Princeton.

St. Bede bows out at 26-6.
