Bravettes capture Amboy regional title
Annawan, the No. 1 ranked team in 1A, won the Amboy Regional girls basketball tournament Friday, defeating the host Clippers 56-26. Celina VanHyfte led the Bravettes with 24 points and Jordan Jackson added 13.
Annawan (27-1) advances to the Midland Sectional to face Hinckley-Big Rock at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Boys’ basketball
Henry 62, DePue 45: Chris Lewis (17) and Jeff Miller (15) led the Mallards to a TCC victory Friday at DePue. Mejia Irving paced the Little Giants with 10 points and Isaac Reyes had 8.
Junior high roundup
Spring Valley JFK hosts the Starved Rock Conference volleyball tournament beginning Saturday.
Peru is the top seed in both grades. In the seventh grade, No. 4 Princeton Logan faces No. 5 LaSalle at 9 a.m. and No. 7 Spring Valley meets No. 2 Streator at 11 a.m. Princeton and Spring Valley square off in eighth-grade action at 10 a.m.
