PRINCETON — The Hall Lady Red Devils lost to St. Bede 48-27 on Jan. 10 at Red Devil Gymnasium. When they met Thursday for the Princeton 2A Regional championship at Prouty Gymnasium, they knew they needed to make up the difference.

Five-foot-4 senior guard Liz Mosbach, who missed the first St. Bede game following an appendectomy, proved to be quite the little difference-maker. She scored all eight of Hall's points in the first quarter, including two straight 3s, finishing with 13 points. She also had two steals and two assists.

Mosbach couldn't wait to play this time.

"This is the game I wanted the most; I didn't get to play the last time against St. Bede with my appendix being taken out," she said. "This time we were basically coming back for revenge. It feels great. We're regional champs."

Hall coach Dave Kain said it was Mosbach's best game of the year, and it couldn't have come at a better time.

"She had her appendix taken out and didn't play in six games (and was) not in the basketball mode. Obviously, she is now," he said. "By far, that was her best game. She was just outstanding."

Mosbach gave Hall the ball-handling support they struggled with the last time against St. Bede's stellar press.

"We kind of struggled against their press last time. We had some turnovers, and we needed to stop that. We've worked on breaking the ball up and being calm under passes," Mosbach said.

Nett gains: Hall senior Kelle Nett had what is called a monster game on the boards with 23 rebounds, including nine offensively. She also scored a team-high 15 points and led Hall with three blocked shots and three assists.

"They have (Kayla) MacDavitt and (Morgan) Dean. They're tall, and I knew I had to do my part down there," she said.

Nett also helped shut down St. Bede's Morgan Dean, a 6-2 powerful junior, who scored three straight inside hoops in the second quarter but was shut out the rest of the way.

"We knew we needed to stop her. Once she got that ball, she could go to the basket and score," Nett said. "I knew I needed to get around and stop the ball from going to her.
