Padgett finishes 56th 
at IHSA bowling finals

Hall sophomore Kaitlyn Padgett advanced to the final round of the IHSA state bowling tournament in Rockford, finishing in 56th place with an average of 196. She had a high game of 224 on Friday and rolled a 205 Saturday. Padgett is the first Hall girl in school history to qualify for state.

Wrestling

At Macomb: St. Bede sophomore wrestler James Peacock of Princeton was unable to stay in contention for state advancement at the Macomb 1A Sectional. He lost by fall in 1:48 to Brett Murphy of Clinton and was pinned at 2:56 by Canton’s Bryce Vaughn in wrestlebacks.

Junior high volleyball

At Spring Valley: Both Princeton Logan squads advanced into semifinal play of the Starved Rock Conference Tournament at Spring Valley JFK with an opening round win Saturday.

The Logan seventh-grade Lions rallied for a 23-25, 25-15, 25-5 win over No. 5 LaSalle. Rachel Jensen ripped off 18 service points for Logan. Logan eighth- graders defeated Spring Valley JFK 25-15, 25-19. Brooke Hieronymus led the Lionesses with eight points and two aces in the first set. Madyson Cain and Hailey Schultz added six points each. On Tuesday, the Logan eighth grade will face Ottawa at 5 p.m. The Logan seventh-graders will follow at 6 p.m. vs. top-seeded Peru. Finals are Thursday.

Junior high girls’ basketball

BVEC Tournament: BV South plays BV North at 7 p.m. Wednesday for the title. BV South beat Ohio 24-14 while BV North beat Bradford 26-20 in Monday’s games. In Saturday action, BV South beat Neponset 26-10, BV North beat DePue 37-8, Ohio edged Ladd 34-29 in overtime and Bradford bounced LaMoille 31-7.
