MANLIUS — Bureau Valley’s seniors walked away with an enthralling and memorable 76-74 victory over Prophetstown in their final game of basketball at the Storm Cellar Saturday with a little help from a friend.

Senior center Bryce Walters worked in his 25 points from underneath the basket while freshman Parker Neuhalfen scored 15 of his 21 points from the 3-point range. Walters was honored for Senior Night recognition along with Danny Hartz, Andrew Nelson and Ethan Ringle.

The Prophets’ leading scorers matched up with the Storm duo well, with Matt Juhola totaling up 24 points and Carter Ames scoring 12.

The Storm and Prophets played a highly offensive game and both teams were neck in neck after each quarter with a tied score of 20-20 at the end of the first, when Walters collected nine points.

BV juniors Frank Gebeck and Josh Whiteside came into the game and had six points each in the second half. Whiteside scored a tough offensive play with 30 seconds left in the third quarter to give the Storm a 56-53 lead.

Gebeck controlled the offense for the last quarter of the game with assists to Walters and Whiteside for each man to score consecutively and make the game tied up at 72-72 with just over a minute left.

The Storm made their final breakaway for the lead with one last bucket from Whiteside and a steal by Neuhalfen with 12 seconds left to protect their lead of 76-74.
