Wyanet village deals with garbage, business district apartments

WYANET — Wyanet residents will have to find another place this spring for their larger garbage items.

At Tuesday’s meeting, the Wyanet Village Board voted not to have a general garbage pickup this spring. Board member Rick Rediger described the rising costs of the collection as the main reason for discontinuing the collecting of junk.

On Wednesday, Village Clerk Shelly Teske said another reason for discontinuing the spring clean-up is the fact that electronics can no longer be accepted for the clean-up day. Residents can contact Illinois Valley Waste or Al’s Metals, both of Princeton, for collection of those items. If people do have other items which they would have normally put on a spring clean-up day, they can still put those items out for regular garbage pick-up, but the items will need additional village stickers on them. More information on the additional sticker requirements is available at village hall, Teske said.
