MENDOTA — Edith Della Emma Fischer, 93, of Lenexa, Kan., formerly of Mendota, died at 9:08 a.m. Monday, Feb. 27, 2012, at the Shawnee Mission Medical Center in Shawnee, Kan., after complications from a stroke.

Born Oct. 28, 1918, in LaMoille to Alwin William and Elva Christina (Billhorn) Meyer, she married Marvin C. Fischer Feb. 11, 1942, in Ohio, Ill. He died in 1988.

She lived her life in Mendota where she raised her children and worked on the family farm. She also worked as a waitress at Sam’s Steak House for many years. She moved to Lenexa, Kan., four years ago to be with her son, Ron.
