Ya gotta love the Midwest. In the course of seven days, we can have snow, sleet, ice, 60-degree days, wind so strong it nearly blows you over ... need I go on? What the heck? I’m not sure if March came in like a lion or a lamb? What do you think?

Regardless of the weather, though, don’t forget Daylight Saving Time begins this Sunday. Remember to turn your clocks one hour ahead before you go to bed Saturday night. Yee-ha! More daylight every night! I love it!

You are invited! Princeton voters will have the opportunity to decide if they want the city of Princeton to be changed to a home rule municipality at the next election on March 20. The Bureau County Republican is hosting a forum at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday (March 6) at the Bureau County Metro Center. The topic of the forum is home rule, and the BCR has invited individuals from around the state who have a working knowledge of home rule to be a part of a panel. The informational forum will allow questions from the public, and panelists will do their best to offer their insight on the subject. There is no charge to attend this community dialogue on the issue.

Letters to the Editor: The BCR encourages your Letters to the Editor, however, there are a few guidelines that need to be followed. Letters should not be more than 500 words. Those writing letters can not submit a letter on the same subject until 30 days have passed from the time the first letter was published. All letters, whether they are emailed, mailed or dropped off at our office, must include a telephone number, so the BCR can verify the authenticity of the letter and the author.

For the upcoming election, no Letters to the Editor that speak of candidates or items on the March 20 ballot will be published after March 17.

I am so looking forward to a bit more daylight as we turn our clocks ahead on Sunday. My list of spring projects is growing daily, but I’m trying to remember to make time for the important things in life. After all, work without any play makes for a pretty, dull life ... don’t you think?

And remember ... you are important to me and the BCR.
