Dorothy White

PERU — Dorothy L. White, 79, of 720 Herbert St., Peru, died at 9:45 a.m. Sunday, March 4, 2012, at her home.

Born April 12, 1932, in Peoria to William and Marie (Pollack) O’Neill, she married James E. White March 9, 1951, in Maryland. He died Dec. 24, 2002.

She was homemaker and a member of St. Thomas Moore Church. She volunteered many years with American Red Cross and with Girl Scouting.

Surviving are four daughters, Kitty (Maurice) Stanton of Spring Valley, Tena (Dennis) Behling of Powhatan, Va., Deb (John) Feeney of Dalzell and Terri (Dave) Hathaway of Denmark, Wis.; seven grandchildren, Cher (Matt) Tonozzi, Kim (Tony) Michels, Jenny (Joe) Gorman, Jill (Mitch) Blanco, Klyle Phelps, Kelly (Nick) Sherman and Jacob Hathaway; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one son at birth, one brother and two sisters.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Thomas Moore Church, Dalzell, with Monsignor Tom Badovsky and the Rev Harold Datzman, O.S.B., officiating. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Swan Lake Cemetery in Peoria.

Visitation will be from be 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to St. Margaret’s Hospice.

The Hurst Funeral Home in LaSalle is assisting the family.
