AMBOY — Burnham Grossman, 99, of Amboy died Monday, March 5, 2012, at the Amboy Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
Born June 11, 1912, to Gustaf and Lena (Hoffman) Grossman, he married Ethel A. Larson Nov. 12, 1942, in Peoria. She died June 8, 2008.
He was a life-long farmer and a school bus driver. He lived in the same residence for 62 years.
He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Amboy and a life-time member of the Lee County Farm Bureau.
Surviving are two sons, David (Beth) Grossman and Carl (Georgiana) Grossman, both of Amboy; four grandchildren, Chris (Cecilia) Grossman, Allan (Amy) Grossman, Erin (Daniel) Otto and Jerad (Kelly) Grossman; five stepgrandchildren, James (Lisa) Hogenson, Laura Spencer, Linda (Dan) Fane, Amy (James) Minard and John (Sheila) Hogenson; nine great-grandchildren; 12 stepgreat-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Frank, Albert, William and Leroy Grossman; four sisters, Elsie Grossman, Elizabeth Smith, Florence Vick and Luvina Baum; and one stepgreat-grandson.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Amboy, with the Rev. Jamie Wallace officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery in Ohio.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home, Amboy, and one hour prior to the services Saturday at the church.
A memorial has been established.
