Special Mass

ANNAWAN — A special Mass with the Anointing of the Sick will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Sacred Heart in Annawan. All parishioners from Sacred Heart in Annawan, St. Mary’s in Kewanee, St. Francis of Assisi in Kewanee, St. Patrick’s in Sheffield and St. Anthony in Atkinson are all invited to join pastors and the sick community for this Mass offered in the Season of Lent. This Mass satisfies the Sunday obligation. The sacrament of the anointing of the sick conveys grace and imparts spiritual and physical gifts to those who receive it. It can be a remedy for anxiety, despair and temptation; it confers hope, peace and fortitude. This sacrament of healing has been celebrated in the church by the apostles at the direction of Jesus Christ himself (Mark 6:12) and by the early church (James 5:14-15) to the present. Those who are aware of any sickness, infirmity, old age, or unexplained bodily or psychic pain, the sacrament is for you. Transportation will be arranged for anyone who needs that assistance by calling the parish office at 309-935-6911.
