BUDA — Sheffield Food Pantry volunteer Pete DeFreezer accepted a $100 donation from Bureau Valley South third-grade teacher Laurie Bitting. Bitting had challenged her third-grade students to try and collect 100 aluminum tabs by the 100th day of school this year. The students and their families far surpassed Bitting’s expectations by bringing in 215 pounds of tabs. The tabs were then taken to a local recycling center and the money received from the tabs was donated to the Sheffield Food Pantry.
