Darleen Ladenburger

PRINCETON — Darleen R. Ladenburger, 79, of Princeton, formerly of Mendota, died Monday, March 19, 2012, at Heartland Healthcare in Henry.

Born Aug. 5, 1932, in Rochelle to Henry and Lottie (Cole) Gruben, she married Don Ladenburger in August 1952 in Rochelle. He died Dec. 22, 2003.

She was employed by the Mendota Lutheran Home, at Jensen Jewelry Store in LaSalle for more than 20 years, and at the Oak Room in Princeton.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Mendota and Peru, and was active in many areas of the church's music programs. She taught organ, piano and guitar lessons for many years.

Surviving are two daughters, Cheryl (Lowell) Christiansen of Princeton and Mary (Dean) Schallhorn of LaMoille; two grandchildren, Cory and Michelle Schallhorn; and nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Mendota, with the Revs. Jeff Schlesinger and Dale Peterson officiating. Burial will be in Restland Cemetery, Mendota.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Merritt Funeral Home in Mendota.

Memorials may be directed to the donor's choice.
