Ottawa Art League names winners

OTTAWA — The Ottawa Art League held its 23rd annual Town & Country Youth Show at Jeremiah Joe’s Coffee in Ottawa March 17.  The winners of Division I – Middle School were: Danielle Lindenbaum, Shepherd Middle School, First; Tristan Chapman, Parkside Peru, Second: and Kathryn Varland, Grandridge Grade School, third. Winners of Division II – Freshmen and Sophomores were: Jordan Dzierzynski, Hall High School, First; Yesenia Garcia, Hall High School, Second; and Madison Dhesse, Hall High School, Third. Winners of Division III – Juniors and Seniors were: Alexander Valdez, Earlville High School, first and second; and Sarah Marconi, Seneca High School, third. The judge for the show was Linda Ribar from Princeton High School.

Three prizes were also given as part of the Mary Ellen Davies Award funded by the Davies family and the Ottawa Art League members in honor of a long time member, Mary Ellen Davies. These prizes were determined by a combination of votes by the judge, a committee of OAL members, and voting by the public. First and second went to Lindenbaum and third went to Garcia.

The show, partially funded by the Illinois Valley Fine Arts Trust, invites young artists within about a 25-mile radius of Ottawa to participate. A total of $490 was given in gift certificates and cash to the winners.
