Wow! What a beautiful weekend we had! My backyard is a carnival of color, mixed with the sweet scents of springtime flowers and shrubs. Just the smell of lilacs coming through the screen on my sliding glass door in my kitchen sends me back umpteen years to memories of my grandmother and the lilacs that sent their springtime aroma into our dining room. I don’t think there’s a sweeter smell ... Surely, I think that’s what heaven will smell like when we get there.

It’s Holy Week, and churches around the county are preparing for their Easter celebrations on Sunday. Many people in just as many churches spend a great deal of time to make this Sunday special for parishioners. If you get a chance to tell those folks thanks for their time and effort, I’m sure it would be appreciated.
Speaking of appreciated, the BCR newsroom had some treats delivered the other day. Phil and Donna Cunningham of Sheffield’s First United Church of Christ delivered us some of the homemade cinnamon rolls they serve at the church’s Community Coffee event, held the first Saturday of every month. Wow! While it’s probably not appropriate to say these heavenly cinnamon rolls were sinful (especially since they are served at the church), let’s just say we all threw our diets out the window that day to indulge. Whew! If you’ve never had these delicious (and huge) cinnamon rolls, head on over to the church’s Community Coffee. Not only will you get a taste of these goodies, you’ll meet some wonderful people and have some great conversation. Thank you!
I hope you have some wonderful Easter plans in the making. Remember there is only one Easter 2012. Make it special. And remember ... you are important to me and the BCR.
