I have an idea
I’ve been watching the news on TV and have been reading my newspaper, and it has been brought to my attention that our world has many problems. Well, I have an idea. I think I know how we can resolve our world’s problems!
Let’s start out by being kind to one another. Let’s be patient with one another. The fact we are at times impatient shows us we have a problem. Let’s all walk in humility. Let us not envy or be boastful. Let us not think too highly of ourselves. Let us consider others better than ourselves. Let us not be rude to one another. If we are an employer, let’s not exploit our workers. If we are an employee, let’s do an honest day’s work. If we are parents, let’s not exasperate our children. If we are children, let’s try hard to respect our parents. If we are a government, let us apply the law of the land to ourselves. Instead of having war, let’s use the trillions of dollars to feed and clothe and educate those who are in need of these things.
Let’s be slow to make promises, but if we do make promises let us be quick to keep them. Let’s not pay back evil for evil. Instead of being selfish, let us be willing to serve. Let’s use our gifts for God’s glory and not for vain glory. Let’s learn to be thankful and to encourage one another. Let’s have an eternal perspective. Let’s not be anxious about anything. Let’s be faithful in church attendance. Let’s dress in a manner that pleases God and so as not to draw attention to ourselves or dress seductively to tempt someone who may be weak. Let’s learn to forgive one another. Let’s stop killing our unborn children. Let’s learn to set our minds on things above, and then when we say the Lord’s Prayer, we may be part of the answer to our request. Let’s learn to seek and please God in all we do. Let’s not seek to be religious but relational. Let’s keep our vows we have made to our spouse. It is a covenant, not a contract. Let’s learn to use wholesome language and stop using vulgar language. Let us learn to be gentle. Let’s learn to practice self-control. Let’s not conform any longer to the pattern of this world but ask God to transform us by the renewing of our minds. Let’s be slow to speak and quick to listen and slow to become angry. Let us not steal, lie, cheat or deceive. Let us learn to rejoice in the truth. Let us ask God to put in our hearts a hunger and thirst for righteousness so that we might meditate on His word day and night.
