GENESEO — Richmond Hill Players next presentation is Larry Shue’s family-friendly, slapstick comedy, “The Nerd.”

The show will be presented Thursdays through Sundays, today through April 22 at the Barn Theater in Geneseo. John VanDeWoestyne, Geneseo, directs the show.

Aspiring young architect Willum Cubbert has often told his friends about the debt he owes to Rick Steadman, a fellow ex-GI whom Willum has never met but who saved Willum’s life after he was seriously wounded in Vietnam. And thus Willum is delighted when Rick shows up unexpectedly at his apartment for a visit on the night of his 34th birthday party. But his delight soon fades to horror as it becomes apparent that Rick is a hopeless “nerd” — a bumbling oaf with no social sense, little intelligence and less tact.

Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays with the show beginning at 7:30 p.m. Sundays are 3 p.m. matinees with the doors opening at 2 p.m. (the Sunday matinee time is new). Reservations are strongly recommended and can be made by calling the Richmond Hill box office at 309-944-2244 or by visiting www.rhplayers.com.
