SPRING VALLEY — Joann Prostko, 53, of 212 W. Iowa St., Spring Valley, died at 1:35 a.m. Thursday, April 5, 2012, at her home after an extended illness.

She was born Feb. 11, 1959, in Spring Valley to Joseph and Rose M. (Molinoski) Prostko.

She was a surgical nurse at Rush University Hospital and Loyola University Hospital, both in Chicago. She was a 1977 graduate of Hall High School and a 1979 graduate of Illinois Valley Community College. She received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Lewis University and then in 1990 graduated from Dominican University with a Master of Business Administration.
