Bridge construction to begin on Route 26
DIXON — Weather permitting, construction work on Route 26 south of Route 30 will begin Monday, according to an Illinois Department of Transportation announcement.
The Brandt Construction Co. will begin the $3.8 million project to replace three bridges including the Green River Bridge, six miles south of Route 30, the bridge over a drainage ditch just north of Green River, and the bridge just south of Amboy Road, about four miles south of Route 30.
All three structures will be replaced one half at a time with traffic restricted to one lane using temporary traffic signals. Drivers should be prepared to stop when approaching the traffic signals at each end of the three bridges. The project is scheduled to be completed by Nov. 1.
Motorists are reminded to slow down and drive carefully through all construction zones.
