Hazel Overstreet

PRINCETON — Hazel Dorothy Nickelsen Overstreet, 90, of Princeton passed away Monday, April 9, 2012 at Perry Memorial Hospital in Princeton.

She was born Dec. 12, 1921, in Peoria to Frank and Mabel (Rhoades) Brutcher. She married Jack Nickelsen on April 7, 1940. He died on June 12, 1975. She then married Harold Overstreet Oct. 5, 1979. He died April 10, 2000.

She graduated from Princeton High School in 1939. She was a life-long homemaker and an active member of the Hampshire Colony Congregational Church and its church circle. She was also a member of the Ladies of the Moose. Hazel was an avid golfer.

Hazel is survived by her four children, Rita (George Watson) Mongan of Princeton, Donna (Rodney) Herzel of Idaho, James (Cathy) Nickelsen of Princeton and Doris (the late Brian) Clifford of Chatham. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Michael (Karla) Mongan of Kansas, Brenda (Chuck) Bentley of Kansas, Marc (Michele) Mongan of Princeton, Sara (Thoren) Teel of Idaho, Janelle (Jason) Macek of Idaho, Jacqueline (Lee) Barr of Sandwich, James (Tara) Nickelsen II of Wyanet, Jonathan (Katie) Clifford of Schaumburg and Scott Clifford of Chatham; 12 great-grandchildren, Blake, Amber, Brittany, Darrin, Nichole, Christopher, Kody, Kelsea, Jack, Courtney, Caleb and Xander; and six great-great-grandchildren. Surviving as well is one brother, Tom Brutcher of Arizona; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, two brothers, two sisters and one great-great-granddaughter.

Services will be at noon Saturday at the Norberg Memorial Home, Princeton with the Rev. Karl Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Elm Lawn Memorial Park, Princeton.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the funeral home.
