PRINCETON — The Bureau County Genealogical Society will host a program on Missing Census Records at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Society library, 629 S. Main St. in Princeton.

Steve Szabados of Palatine will be the speaker and plans to discuss ways to deal with the lack of information in the census records for 1790 through 1840, as well as ways of finding missing census records. The release of the 1940 census, recently released, will also be covered. The public is invited to attend this free meeting.

The website of the Illinois State Archives now contains the names and dates from more than 20,000 marriages for Bureau County from 1837 to 1900. Researchers can find this information on the Illinois Marriage Index Project data base at that site. This data base includes marriages from 199 out of 202 counties in Illinois.

For more information, call 815-879-3133 during the hours of 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Friday, or stop by during those same hours. The next First Saturday opening will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 5.
