PRINCETON — The Illinois Department of Transportation has announced that demolition of the westbound Interstate 80 bridge over Route 34, northeast of Princeton, will begin today, Wednesday, weather permitting.

During the removal, Route 34 traffic will be stopped for up to 15-minute intervals to allow for removal of the beams. As such, Route 34 motorists can expect delays. Flaggers will be present and will direct traffic during the removal.

Motorists are encouraged to use extreme caution when traveling through the work zone and to be alert for flaggers and other workers.
