PES/PHS reach agreement on curriculum coordinator

PRINCETON — Princeton High School Principal Barb Schmidt is expected to be named the new joint curriculum coordinator for the Princeton Elementary School and the Princeton High School districts.

At Monday’s meeting, the PES Board voted to enter into a one-year agreement with PHS for the hiring of Schmidt as the curriculum coordinator for both districts. The PHS Board is expected to take similar action at its meeting this week.

Following Monday’s meeting, PES Superintendent Tim Smith said the curriculum coordinator is needed to help with the implementations of the new Common Core state standards. Schmidt will remain an employee of the PHS District, with PES paying 50 percent of the cost for the new position. That cost is yet to be finalized, Smith said.
