Sheffield donation jar thief pleads guilty
PRINCETON — Andrew Noriega, 28, of Davenport, Iowa pleaded guilty Tuesday to stealing a donation jar from the Sheffield Casey’s General Store Dec. 16, 2011.
Noriega appeared in Bureau County Court before Circuit Judge Marc Bernabei with assistant public defender James Andreoni to plead guilty to the Class A misdemeanor of theft.
Noriega turned himself in to the Bureau County Sheriff’s Office Jan. 6 after photos of a then-unidentified man taken from Casey’s security camera were released to the BCR and other media outlets. The jar had contained money being collected by a group of Sheffield residents to replace the aging equipment playground equipment for Sheffield’s Veterans Park.
