PRINCETON — The Friends Book Club will meet at 4 p.m. today, Thursday, at the Princeton Public Library to discuss “The Dovekeepers” by Alice Hoffman.
On Friday, the Covered Bridge Quilters Guild will have a sewing machine service day. Appointments will be required. Cost will be $35 for basic cleaning and oiling on a basic mechanical machine, $45 for an embroidery machine or digital machine or if the machine needs repairs. On Monday, Gamma Phi will meet at 3:30 p.m.; and the Monday Night Movie will be shown at 6:30 p.m. During the summer of 1979, a group of friends who are making a super 8 movie witness a train crash and investigate the subsequent unexplained events in their small town.
On Tuesday, the preschool story hour will be held, with the theme sunflowers. All area preschoolers and their parents or guardians are welcome to attend. Also, Talk About: John McKee presents a dragonflies and damselflies program at 6:30 p.m.
On Wednesday, the library board will meet at 7 p.m.
On Sept. 20, the Covered Bridge Quilters Guild will meet at 10 a.m.; the Bureau County Retired Teachers Association will meet at 11 a.m.; the ITC will meet at 4 p.m.; and the Princeton in the Lens Presentation will take place at 6:30 p.m. A slide show presentation will be given of the Digital Photography Show.
LAMOILLE — The LaMoille-Clarion Public Library is celebrating September is Library Card sign-up month. “Open up a whole new world for yourself and your family, come to the library!” said library director Joyce Sondgeroth.
Also, amnesty week for all overdue items is being held now through Saturday. Items left in the book drop or returned after 3 p.m. Saturday will be charged the normal fines.
The library will hold a story hour at 1 p.m. Saturday. Join Joyce for stories, snacks and fun!

WYANET — It is fall and so it is time for the Raymond A. Sapp Library’s programming season. The library has computer classes and the 2nd Thursday@the Library programs held from September through May.
The computer classes will continue to be held on the second Tuesday each month at 1 p.m. The public is welcome to join in with any and all questions about computers, software, search engines ... whatever one can think of. Dorene Stalter is the go-to-lady for computers.
The library continues its monthly 2nd Thursday@the Library programs. The line-up includes two Illinois Humanities Council’s Road Scholars, Chris Vallillo in November and Brian (Fox) Ellis in January. Back by popular demand, LeRoy Olson and Deb Baker are once again putting together a Cemetery Walk for October.
Interested in barbecue Wyanet Style? Wyanet’s own Todd Peterson will tell all about his journey with barbecue at September’s 2nd Thursday@the Library program. The presentation will be at 6:30 p.m. today, Thursday. It should be very intriguing. As always delightful refreshments will be served.
OHIO — The Ohio Public Library will host a computer education class beginning Tuesday at 6 p.m. This course will cover basic Internet security, computer functions, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. Pre-registration is required as class size is limited, so please stop in and sign up today.
WALNUT — Anyone living in the Walnut area can register to vote at the Walnut Public Library. The deadline to register to vote at the library for the November election is Oct. 9. Please bring two forms of identification with your current address when you register.
SPRING VALLEY — Story time is held every Tuesday at the Richard A. Mautino Memorial Library from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the children’s room of the library. A story, a craft and sometimes a game is provided to children prekindergarten through third grade. A parent must accompany their child. This is free of charge, and sign up is not necessary.
PERU — The Peru Public Library holds a story time for children 3-5 years old at 10:30 a.m. every Wednesday. Children will hear stories, sing songs, dance and learn finger plays. Registration is not required. Visit www.perulibrary.org or call 815-223-0229, ext. 5, for more information.
