Coffeehouse event

PRINCETON — Venerated bluesman Roy Book Binder, whose eclectic repertoire includes blues, country tunes, bluegrass and folk, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Princeton Coffeehouse. Tickets are $12 at the door ($100 season subscriptions also offered). Homemade desserts and fair trade coffee will be available. The coffeehouse is at the Open Prairie UCC, 25 E. Sheffield sales

SHEFFIELD — Townwide garage sales will be Sept. 29 in Sheffield. Maps will be available at Royal Supermarket on Main Street.

Meeting set

WYANET — The Wyanet Golden Eagles will meet at 12:30 p.m. Oct. 2 at Main Street BBQ in Wyanet. Lunch will be pay for your own. All seniors 50 and over are welcome to attend. For reservations, call 815-699-2222.

Fundraiser planned

LADD — The Malden After-School Program will hold a fundraiser from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 25 at Rip’s in Ladd. Tickets are $7 and are available at the door or from Wyndi at 815-878-3650.

Bingo Night

WALNUT — The Walnut Chamber of Commerce will host a Bingo Night from 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 15 at the Walnut Community Center. The cost is $3 for two cards, $5 for four cards. Prizes will be sponsored by the Chamber. Snacks, sugar free included, will be provided.

Cookout

WYANET — The United Pentecostal Church Reach Department will host a cookout from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Wyanet Locker. The menu will include rib eyes, butterfly chops, brats, pork burgers, hot dogs and chips.

Pancake breakfast

WYANET — Girl Scout Troop 4011 will host a pancake and sausage breakfast from 7 a.m. to noon Sunday at the Wyanet VFW. Tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under. Preschoolers are free. Proceeds will help fund the December Panama City Beach, Fla. trip.

Alzheimer’s course

DIXON — The Alzheimer’s Association and United Way of Lee County will host an introductory course, “Facing New Challenges,” covering information such as normal aging vs. Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, diagnosis process, communication tips, safety concerns-driving and wandering and community resources, from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Rock River Branch, 93 S.
