United Way sets $120,000 goal

PRINCETON — The Bureau County United Way has announced its 41st annual campaign with a target goal of raising $120,000.

At a campaign kick-off meeting Tuesday morning in the community room of the Bureau County Republican in Princeton, Bureau County United Way Director Michelle Lymberopoulos said this year’s target goal of $120,000 is the same as the last couple years. With the economy as it has been for the past few years, reaching 88 percent of last year’s goal was a success, she said, adding she hopes this year’s economy will show some recovery.

In her comments at Tuesday’s meeting, United Way Board President Sue Spratt said there are numerous defining moments in a person’s life, with those moments hopefully changing people to make them want to help others. Those personal stories are the stories which can help explain why the United Way is important to the community and why it seeks to raise funds to help others.
