Cast announced for ‘The Marvelous Wonderettes’

STREATOR — Director Joey Beavers of Peru has announced the cast for Community Players of Streator Inc.’s upcoming production of “The Marvelous Wonderettes.” The cast includes Christine Adelmann of Utica, Sarah Breyne of Toluca, Samantha Farb of Lostant and Emily Hanck of Peru.

Created by Roger Bean, the show was a smash off-Broadway hit musical. “The Marvelous Wonderettes” takes you to the 1958 Springfield High School prom where we meet the Wonderettes, four girls with hopes and dreams as big as their crinoline skirts! As we learn about their lives and loves, we are treated to the girls performing such classic ‘50s and ‘60s songs as “Lollipop,” “Dream Lover,” “Stupid Cupid,” “Lipstick on Your Collar,” “Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me,” “It’s My Party” and more than 20 other classic hits in this trip down musical memory lane. Production rights are in cooperation with Steele Springs Theatrical Licensing.

“The Marvelous Wonderettes” is the last production of the 55th anniversary season at Engle Lane Theatre. Production dates are Oct. 7-13, with a 2 p.m. matinee on Oct. 7 and 7:30 p.m. curtain nightly Monday through Saturday.

Tickets for the general public are $20 and go on sale Oct. 1. They can be reserved by calling the box office at 815-672-3584. Box office hours are Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.
