Sheffield library to host fundraiser

Published: Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012 2:54 p.m. CST

SHEFFIELD — The Sheffield Public Library will host a fundraiser at 3 p.m. Oct. 14 at the Sheffield Community Center. Award winning chefs Monika Sudakov of Chestnut Street Inn and Eran Salzman of ZBest will both provide some of their favorite soups, as well as Belluccio’s freshly baked bread.

Many other Sheffield residents will be donating their family’s best in soup, corn bread, chili and hot biscuits as part of the menu, which also includes hot or cold non-alcoholic beverage of your choice – all for only $5. If you have room for dessert, a variety of baked goods will be available for purchase to enjoy after your supper and buy some to take home for a late night snack.

If the thought of tempting hot soup, fresh bread and sweet desserts aren’t enough to catch your attention, how about entering your name in the drawing for one of several door prizes? Baskets of books with surprise add-ins will be given to lucky winners with names drawn every 30 minutes from 3:30 to 6 p.m.

Did you know that all proceeds from aluminum placed in the village recycling bin are donated to the Sheffield Public Library? So, one more way to show your support for the Sheffield Public Library is to bring any aluminum cans to the Sheffield Community Center during the soup supper, and they will be included in the next batch of recycled material.

Those unable to attend can call 815-454-2034, and their soup supper order will be delivered to their door.

Anyone who would like to help by making a pot of soup, donating baked goods or giving a monetary donation should contact the library at 815-454-2628 or call Dawn Porter at 815-878-9771.

The Sheffield Public Library invites readers of all ages to stop in and check out their new look. Patrons are also reminded the library can obtain resources through inter-library loan if they don’t have the item you are looking for. Fall/winter hours are Monday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Tuesday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Wednesday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Friday, noon to 4 p.m.; and Saturday, 9 a.m. to noon.
