Judy Sment of LaSalle holds the first two books which she has published on her spiritual life; two more books are being planned. Sment’s books are available locally through the Brandy’s Hallmark Store and the Perry Memorial Hospital gift shop, both in Princeton, and Thompson Rexall Drugs in Spring Valley. The book is also available through Sment’s website.

LASALLE — Chronicling her spiritual journey is just a book away for Judy Sment of LaSalle.

Sment has published two books about her life and how faith in God has changed her. Two more books are on the way in her spiritual journey series.

In looking at her journey into becoming an author, Sment said God gave her a calling to write her first book in 1998, even giving her the title of “My Walk With God.” Though she received her calling to write in 1998, Sment said life got in the way, and she didn’t start writing her first book until 2000. The 448-page book was published in 2005.

She began writing her most recent book, “Humbled But By the Grace of God,” in 2005, with that book published earlier this year by Publish America. As told by the title, this book tells of Sment’s encounter with God’s grace.

She is currently writing her third book, “On Bended Knee.” The fourth book is titled, “I’m Somebody. I’m a Child of God.”

Becoming a published author has been somewhat of a surprise for her, Sment said. She didn’t even have a computer when she made that decision to write her first book, at God’s direction. She learned a lot about writing from the book “1,880 Ways to Write and Get Published”. A second book, which Sment said also had a profound impact on her life, was “How to Be the Wife of a Happy Husband.”

The basic message of all her books will remain constant — that there is a God and that faith in God can change a person’s life, she said.

Though she hopes her books will help to deepen people’s faith in God, her books aren’t targeted solely for Christians or church-goers, Sment said, adding her books are for seekers in any stage of their journey.

Locally, her books are available through the Brandy’s Hallmark Store and the Perry Memorial Hospital gift shop, both in Princeton, and the Thompson Rexall Drugs in Spring Valley, as through her website, judithswalkingwithgod.com.
