Golf teams hitting them straight

The Princeton and Hall boys and the St. Bede girls golf teams were all hitting them straight this week, posting wins out on the links.

At Tall Oaks: Hall edged host Fieldcrest 193-197 with Putnam County third at 212. Hall scores were Nathan Alfano (45), Pete Mautino 47, Ryan Ott (49), Zach Vanderpool (52), Malcolm Bernabei (52) and Nick Scheri (56).

Midland’s Jordan Cochran (41) was medalist. PC’s top scorer was Nate Ward (49).

At Hunter’s Ridge: Princeton’s Zach Hicks took medalist honors with an even-par 36 to lead the host Tigers (159) past Kewanee (177) and LaSalle-Peru (187). Hunter Schultz added 38, Cole Evenson a 42 and Austin Hellman and Ian Nichols 43s.

At Spring Creek: Barbi Prokup shot a 45 on the par-35 front 9 Thursday as the Lady Bruins topped Henry 215-273. Gabrielle Mendoza added a 50, Sydney Eustice a 55, and Taylor Hamer a 65.

On Wednesday at Spring Creek, Rockridge (214) edged Erie (215) with St. Bede scoring 231 for third. Sydney Kilcoin of Rockridge was medalist at 36. For St. Bede, Prokup had a 46, Mendoza a 51, Eustice a 64 and Hamer a 70.
