MANLIUS — The Bureau County Sheriff’s Department has made an arrest in a Sept. 14 residential burglary in Manlius.
On Friday afternoon, Bureau County Sheriff John Thompson issued a press release stating investigators from his office executed a search warrant in Manlius on Thursday during which they recovered what is believed to be evidence from a residential burglary.
The recovery of the items of evidence along with other matters of evidence has resulted in the arrest of Michael S. Ratajcak, 26, who has a current address in Manlius.
Through the officer’s investigative findings and with the support of Bureau County State’s Attorney Patrick Herrmann, the search warrant for the Manlius residence was approved Thursday by Associate Circuit Judge C.J. Hollerich, with the warrant executed on that date, Thompson said.
Lt. Randall Hasbrook with the assistance of Deputy Sheriff Chad Hall served as the investigators for the Manlius matter. Among the items recovered were antique and collectable fishing equipment that have a reported or estimated (collector) value in excess of $60,000, Thompson said.
The recovery of evidence and the arrest are the result of an investigation into a burglary of a Manlius residence which was reported Sept. 14 to the sheriff’s department. The Illinois State Police, division of crime scene services, provided assistance and support in the recovery of the evidence, Thompson said.
