Danny Sissel
PRINCETON — Danny Ray Sissel, 63, of Princeton passed away Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Danny was born on Feb. 23, 1949, in Princeton to Sherman and Emma (White) Sissel. He had served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam as an M.P. He married Colleen Taylor on July 10, 1975, in Princeton. He had served as chief of police in Tiskilwa, had been a Princeton police officer for 30 years, upon retirement had worked part-time for the Bureau County Sheriff’s Department, and until recently he touched many hearts working with the Fiocchi-Jensen Funeral Home for years.
He was a member of the Princeton Moose, the Princeton Elks, the Princeton American Legion, AMVETS, and was past commander of the VFW. Along with his wife, Colleen, he had volunteered to place flags along Main Street in Princeton for patriotic holidays, and for the past two years had been active with St. Jude’s Princeton to Memphis motorcycle fundraiser.
