School board openings announced
Fifty school board positions in Bureau County will be open for election at the April 9, 2013, consolidated election.
Candidate informational packets and petitions for the April 9, 2013, school board election are now available through the individual school district offices.
The open school board seats for public Bureau County schools are as follows:
• Bureau Valley School District: All seven school board seats are up for grabs due to redistricting. Seats for Districts 1, 3 and 6 will be for two-year terms. Seats for Districts 2, 4, 5 and 7 will be for four-year terms. Current board members, under the current district map, are Don DeWaele, District 1; Kent Siltman, District 2; Keith Bolin, District 3; Rick Cernovich, District 4; Roger Craine, District 5; James Lilley, District 6; and Myron Rumbold, District 7.
• Cherry Grade: Four seats are open with all for four-year terms. Those seats are currently held by Deborah Brokaw, Craig Mitchell, Wendy Raef and Jim Lower.
• Dalzell Grade: One board seat is open for a two-year term. That seat is currently held by David Englehaupt.
• DePue Unit School: Five seats are open with all seats for two-year terms. Those seats are currently held by Laurie Delgado, Jason Hayes, Nickole Barto, Juan “Joe” Ruiz and Laura Ortega.
• Hall High School: Three board seats are open with all for four-year terms. Those positions are currently held by Betsy Sobin, Marty Herrrmann and John Piccatto Jr.
• Ladd Community School: Four seats are open, all for four-year terms. Those positions are currently held by Marie Giordano, Robert Morrow, John Piccatto Sr. and Paul Quinn.
• LaMoille Unit School: There are four openings on the school board. There are three four-year terms with those positions currently held by Matt Motter, Mary Anne Schwingle and Cynthia Shevokas. There is also a two-year unexpired term, currently held by Mary Taylor.
• Malden Community Consolidated: Three positions are open for four-year terms. Those positions are currently held by Heath Terando, Sandy Elmore and Tammy Foster.
• Ohio Grade: There are five open seats with three of those seats for four-year terms and two seats for two-year terms. The seats are currently held by Robert Albrecht, Cori Thomas, Janet Johnson, Donna Popp and David Spohn.
• Ohio High: There are four open seats, all for four-year terms. Those seats are currently held by Bob Gonigam, Brock Kaecker, Carol DeBruhl and Tim Snodgrass.
• Princeton Elementary: Four seats are open for four-year terms. Those seats are currently held by Doris Hamilton, Judd Lusher, Terry O’Neil and George Kauffman.
• Princeton High School: Two seats are open for four-year terms. Those positions are currently held by Colleen Sailer and John Young.
• Spring Valley Elementary: Four seats are open for four-year terms. Those seats are currently held by Ray Nolasco, Jim Scarpaci, Jim Faletti and Greg Case. There is also a two-year term open, which is currently filled by Ted Urbanski.
