Wayne Mowers

PRINCETON — Wayne Earle Mowers, 57, of Princeton died at 3:15 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012, at his home.

Born Feb. 10, 1955, in Cresco, Iowa, to Raymond I. and Marjorie (Westlake) Mowers, he married Debbie Knudsen July 28, 2007, at their home on Bureau Creek in rural Princeton. She survives.

He graduated from Toulon-LaFayette High School in 1973 and attended Black Hawk College for two years. He completed his Bachelor of Science in math from Western Illinois University in 1977, and he later completed his Master of Science in computer science from the University of Illinois. He worked as a computer systems analyst consultant in Clinton, Iowa; Norfolk, Va.; Saudi Arabia; Puerto Rico; Coralville, Iowa; Pittsburg, Pa.; Tallahassee, Fla.; Albany, N.Y.; and for several years for the state of Illinois in Springfield.

He was a member of the Princeton Lions Club and the Springfield chapter of the Sons of the American Legion.

Also surviving are his mother; two brothers, Dave (Sue) Mowers and Ron (Margaret) Mowers; two sisters, Leila Mowers and Debra (Lee) Reason; nieces and nephews, Joe, Jon, Mandy and Matthew Mowers, Becky (Andy) Nelson and daughter, Abigail, Libby (Ben) Mowers-Simon, and Meghann and Luke Johnson; two stepchildren, Angie Smith and Adam (Samantha) Knudsen; and two grandchildren, McKenzie and Paxton.

He was preceded in death by his father and his brother-in-law, Rex Bouton.

A private memorial was held Sept. 23 in Princeton.
