PRINCETON — Voter registration will take place at the Princeton Public Library from 3 to 9 p.m. today, Thursday. Anyone wishing to be registered will need to bring two forms of identification.
The Monday Night Movie will be shown at 6:30 p.m. In the wake of Abraham Lincoln’s assassination, seven men and one woman are arrested and charged with conspiring the kill the president. Against the backdrop of post-Civil War Washington, newly-minted lawyer Frederick Aiken reluctantly agrees to defend the woman, Mary Surratt.
On Tuesday, the Preschool Story Hour will be held with the theme, “Colors.” All area preschoolers and their parents or guardians are welcome to attend. Also at 6:30 p.m., Talk About: EcoBot Challenge with the 4-H and Cooperative Extension will be held. Families and students ages 8-14 may participate in a hands-on project making a mini robot. On Wednesday, the Central Bank Classic Club will meet at 10 a.m.; a Richard Widmark movie will be shown at 6:30 p.m.; and Chicks with Sticks will meet at 6:30 p.m.
On Oct. 11, the Early Beginnings Young Parenting Group will meet at 3:30 p.m.; the Friends of the Library Book Club will meet at 4 p.m. to discuss “Darling Jim” by Christian Moerk; and Bob Welch will perform Songs of the Civil War at 7 p.m.
LAMOILLE — The LaMoille-Clarion Public Library has received the Eliminate the Digital Divide Grant funds. Equipment is currently being ordered. The projected date for classes to begin is the first week in November. A few of the classes offered will be Basic Computer, Microsoft Word, Excel and Navigating the Internet. A more complete list will be forthcoming. If you are interested in signing up for a class or have suggestions for classes please contact the library at 815-638-2356 or by email at llibrary@live.com. Classes will be offered free of charge to people in the LaMoille-Clarion Library District and to persons outside of the district as space allows.
Also, CVS Pharmacy is offering a flu clinic at the library from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 12. The charge for the flu vaccine will be $33.99, however, there will be no charge to Medicare patients. Please call the library if you have questions.
SHEFFIELD — Enjoy a delicious meal and support the Sheffield Public Library at 3 p.m. Oct. 14 at the Community Center in Sheffield. Award-winning Chefs Monika Sudakov of Chestnut Street Inn and Eran Salzman of ZBest Cafe on Main will both be providing some of their favorite soups, as well as Belluccio’s tasty freshly-baked bread! TISKILWA — “On the Wings of Heroes” by Richard Peck is the book to be discussed at the Tiskilwa Public Library’s next book club/dinner meeting at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 15.

OHIO — On Oct. 17, Bureau County Extension Service will be at the Ohio Public Library to present its “Ecobots” program for kids 8 years old and up. This program will have kids build their own robots and is sure to be a fun event. The program starts at 4 p.m. Stop in to the library to sign up today.
NEPONSET — The Neponset Public Library will host “The Last Lecture” book discussion at 1:30 p.m. Oct. 27, based on the book by Randy Pausch.
The library will observe National Gaming Day at your library at 1 p.m. Nov. 3. Play cards, board games, computer games, video games and more. There will be lots of fun and pizza.
SPRING VALLEY — Story time is held every Tuesday at the Richard A. Mautino Memorial Library from 5:30 until 6:00 p.m. in the children’s room of the library. There is a story and a craft-related project during this time for preschool children through third grade. A parent must accompany their child. This is free of charge.
A Rules of the Road Review Course will be presented at the library from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Nov. 9. This program is a great review class and is free to the public. Please call the library to register at 815-663-4741.
DEPUE — The Selby Township Library hosts a blood pressure and blood sugar screening clinic the second Tuesday of each month. Stop in anytime between 8:30 and 9:30 a.m. to have your pressure and sugar checked by a health care professional. The clinic is provided by St. Margaret’s Health and is free and open to the public.
MINERAL — The Mineral-Gold Public Library has several newer titles on the book sale again. There are some paperbacks and also nice hardbacks. Stop in and see the books for sale, and pick up some free fall color pages for the kids.
WALNUT — Anyone living in the Walnut area can register to vote at the Walnut Public Library. The deadline to register to vote at the library for the November election is Oct. 9. Please bring two forms of identification with your current address when you register.
HENRY — The Henry Public Library will host programs at 7 p.m. for the next two Thursdays.
PERU — The Peru Public Library holds a story time for children 3 to 5 at 10:30 a.m. every Wednesday. Children will hear stories, sing songs, dance and learn finger plays. Registration is not required. Visit www.perulibrary.org or call 815-223-0229, ext. 5, for more information.
